Whenever a new baby is born in their community, Mandara and her great aunt are invited to come and meet the new mother— to explain to her how she must care for the infant. Among the many things she and her aunt emphasize is the importance of daily body massage for the baby; to strengthen his developing muscles, support his fusing bones, and to nourish his delicate skin. Mandara presents the mother with a special oil, prepared lovingly in her own workshop, enriched with vitamin-E and a plethora of micronutrients to nurture, and aid the process of the baby's growth.
